Sleeping through the night or STTN is something you often hear/read about but what does it actually mean?
When we say sleeping through the night we don't mean that your baby sleeps overnight without any wake ups at all, we mean that they get themselves back to sleep after their sleep cycle ends.
As adults, we wake up multiple times a night and we get ourselves back to sleep. Little ones are the same way, which is why they may have night wakings (not related to feedings) and need to be put pack down to sleep.
Once they are able to get themselves to sleep and can independently fall asleep they will be able to get through the sleep cycles, sleep longer stretches, and eventually sleep through the night.
Is your little one sleeping through the night?
